Looking for great opportunities to study in a creative atmosphere? Our many exciting programs foster innovative thinking, encourage dynamic collaborations and scholarly-artistic endeavors among students who have compelling interest in communication and self expression.
The school offers a wide variety of major and minor options. Whether your desire is to be a concert pianist, sports broadcaster, political speech writer, graphic artist, theater lighting designer, TV director or painter, the School of Communication, Media and the Arts has a program designed to let you excel.
Our goals are to provide:
a challenging learning experience for imaginative, questioning students
opportunities to work with top notch faculty in art, music, communication and theater
opportunities to explore cultural values that provide a basis for understanding the human experience.
a sense of the importance of civic engagement and global awareness
We've combined the strengths of programs in art, music and theater with SUNY's most diverse department of communication studies. The school provides you with the opportunity to study both individual, discrete programs in communication, media and the arts, as well as new interdisciplinary programs that develop organically out of the growing trends in media convergence, artistic performance and communication interconnections.
We're proud to say that our art, music and theatre programs are nationally accredited and our highly competitive broadcasting, public relations, and graphic arts programs are listed among the nation's top programs by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Princeton Review. Facilities are state-of-the-art and there's great opportunity for self-expression.
Alumni from the various programs have found success professionally. Graduates from the different areas of the school have had many successes at the regional, national and international level, often attaining prominence in their fields.
